Allerdale Borough Council

Client: Allerdale Borough Council

Brief: To carry out a review of arts and cultural activity in Allerdale in order to understand the current offer and to identify gaps in provision.

Description:  To tie in with a review of how the local council can support organisations and groups operating in the local area, the Art, Sport & Leisure Department commissioned some independent research into the arts and cultural offer in Allerdale. The mapping exercise concentrated on the core towns and looked at participation opportunities, events and festivals and individual practitioners. Having worked with a large number of key arts organisations and networks over the last few years I was able to draw on personal knowledge and experience, access a wide range of personal and professional contacts and utilise local publications and online resources within the limited timeframe. Information was compiled in a user friendly  format so that it can be used for analysis depending on need. Resources can be used as a watching brief that can be amended, updated and managed as the cultural landscape changes.

Testimonial:

Rachel’s expertise and knowledge of the arts and culture sector along with a professional and friendly approach has provided us with a good body of work that will be used in a variety of ways. It will help to inform strategy planning and support for the sector. Rachel’s enthusiasm, passion and inclusive approach was evident and enabled a successful piece of work in a tight timescale. We would work with Rachel again and would have no hesitation recommending her to other organisations!
