Age UK West Cumbria supports older people in our Allerdale and Copeland communities, as well as their families and carers. Their programmes and initiatives enable people to improve their wellbeing and live happier and healthier lives. After an extensive restructure, Age UK West Cumbria are making changes to their operations and have commissioned me to work alongside their team to support their internal and external marketing & communications activity.

Following on from their successful film ‘BOY’ in 2019, which achieved a reach of over 500,000 through various channels, as well as interest from Duke & Duchess of Cambridge and a CBBC collaboration, the group were ready to launch 'JUST LISTEN', when Covid-19 hit. Our strategic campaign, featuring visits to businesses, community groups & schools, as well as cinema screenings & presentations, all came to a standstill. We had to quickly adapt and come up with a completely new solution...

After extensive community engagement, consultation and research, the Ewanrigg Local Trust found that they needed a product that could connect local residents to opportunities and services in the local area and provide a platform to celebrate community achievements and successes. I was commissioned to research and devise a model for Maryport Matters - a free, community magazine that seeks to entertain, empower and inform.

The Brathay Trust work with partnership organisations to deliver Engagement, Development & Leadership Programmes. Key partners in the Changing Culture Programme and the Aspiring Leaders Programme, they commissioned me to help with the promotion and recruitment to each course, with a specific focus on individuals who may ordinarily experience barriers to access.
Choose Occupational Health are a family-run business based in Carlisle providing high quality occupational health services for over 400 multi-sector clients. With no internal marketing department, the business wanted help creating a sustainable marketing plan that could be delivered by a member of the team with regular consultancy support and mentoring. They also required the provision of regular creative content.
BEC are a property development company based at Westlakes Science Park. Keen to develop their educational offering they wanted to develop an interactive trail to give youngsters an understanding of how STEAM subjects are part of their daily lives and how they are represented within the organisations that are located on the park. The STEAM trail also encourages students to explore the integral links between the arts and science. I worked with a design team on concept and content.
WE WILL is a group of young people aged 15 - 18 who have joined together to tackle the way that youth mental health is being dealt with in their families, schools, communities and nationwide. They have carried out extensive research and have taken part in activities to raise awareness of the issues as well as providing recommendations for change. I have supported them on their journey with marketing & communications expertise, helping them to shape an engaging and successful campaign.
Keswick Film Club is a voluntarily-run, not-for-profit organisation that exists to bring alternative films to Keswick, Cumbria. Each year they hold a film festival. The team wanted to review their marketing activity in order to create a more strategic and sustainable plan to boost membership and audience numbers.
Direct Rail Services (DRS) is a rail freight company with offices across the UK. During a restructuring process the new Communications team wanted some support to help with industry award applications and entry forms.

HUG A MUG is an innovative new health and well-being signposting cafe based in Maryport. Staffed by volunteers it offers free and friendly advice to people who might need some extra support. I have been working with the team on the project to provide full marketing & communications support in all aspects including advising on brand development, creation of promotional materials, identifying key messages, developing and maintaining stakeholder relations, PR activity and social media etc

Allerdale Borough Council operates in West Cumbria and covers the town hubs of Aspatria, Cockermouth, Keswick, Maryport, Silloth, Wigton and Workington. It was fantastic to be asked to do some research into the arts & cultural provision in the area - a great project and a reminder of the creativity and diversity within the county.
Choose Cumbria is a multimedia marketing campaign, developed by CN Group Ltd working in partnership with employers and organisations to promote Cumbria as the ideal place to develop a career – with the lifestyle benefits to match. I provided support for the Content Manager creating engaging copy for the location sections as well as a series of lifestyle and business blogs.
Baltic Holidays is an independent travel specialist providing bespoke holidays, hand-picked escorted tours and tailor-made packages to the Baltic States, Russia, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. The company has recently undergone a restructure and the team are expanding the business. To coincide with these changes we are developing a marketing and communications strategy that will help maximise their resources, strengthen their brand and explore new routes to market.
Kaveney HR Solutions offers a wide range of HR services including HR Consultations, specialist support, training packages and psychometric testing to small, medium and large scale multi-sector organisations, throughout the UK. Based in Carlisle in Cumbria, the business was founded by Sue Kaveney in 2008. As it approaches its 10 year anniversary, Sue wanted to review her marketing and communications strategy, refresh her marketing plan and explore new routes to market.

Prism Arts is an inclusive arts organisation based in Cumbria. Their priority is to develop projects that enable disabled people, young people and older people to engage in the arts. In 2016 they contracted me as Strategic Marketing Lead for their Studio Theatre Company’s Regional Theatre Tour. The play, Tales of a Long Conflict, was devised by the company and commemorated the Battle of the Somme. It was performed at various venues across Cumbria.

In order to celebrate the positive aspects of their local community and promote health and wellbeing, the Maryport Health Assets Group and the Ewanrigg Local Trust, based in West Cumbria, commissioned me to design, manage and develop a promotional campaign which would incorporate a unique and distinct brand, a community magazine and a strategic marketing and communication plan to assist with delivery.
A regional producing theatre based in Keswick, Cumbria, engaged my services over a 4 year period to devise, manage and promote new access & audience development schemes, central to funding agreements and sustainability plans.
Established in 1987, Hospice at Home West Cumbria, is a well-known and well-respected charity providing home-based palliative care and other related services to the people of West Cumbria. With high fundraising targets and a forward thinking marketing team, there was a wealth of projects and events to get involved with. I worked with them 3 consecutive years to promote and develop their annual Colour Run fundraising event and supported their in-house team.
The Ewanrigg Local Trust are a community led organisation who manage the Big Local £1m Big Local Development Project in Maryport, West Cumbria. Their aim is to make Ewanrigg a better place to live for residents.
I worked with Curtis Productions to co-ordinate the design, production and distribution of a range of eye-catching hard copy and digital products used to promote a national theatre tour visiting over 20 arts venues.
