After a 10 year period of being funded by Big Local, in order to become sustainable, Ewanrigg Community Centre took the decision to become a charitable organisation, merging the skills of two smaller groups to become The Centre West Cumbria Ltd. I was commissioned to provide PR & Comms support to enable the smooth external transition and business development support to create internal plans for a financially viable and self sustaining operational model.

Hospice at Home West Cumbria provides high quality end of life care and bereavement support for patients and their families. Due to delays with recruitment, the charity found itself without a comms lead and needed some support with day-to-day PR & Comms activity. As I have worked with them previously they asked me to assist with the delivery of internal and external campaigns across various channels and review activity to improve efficiency.

Coinciding with the production and release of a film called Swimming Upstream, she wanted to review her marketing & comms activity, refresh her brand and relaunch Susie Tate Projects with a new look, new focus and a beautiful film that captures the spirit and essence of her practice.

Trailer Story at Theatre by the Lake

After such a long period of closure and no live theatre due to Covid, Theatre by the Lake partnered with the English Touring Theatre and Northern Stage to bring Trailer Story to Keswick. This outdoor festival of spoken word, theatre and comedy, celebrated the resilience and diversity of local communities, showcasing a range of live acts on a purpose built touring truck. I was delighted to be asked to work on this unique project. The only problem was... would the rain hold off?

JUST LISTEN FILM - WE WILL youth mental health campaign group (Ewanrigg Local Trust)

Following on from their successful film ‘BOY’ in 2019, which achieved a reach of over 500,000 through various channels, as well as interest from Duke & Duchess of Cambridge and a CBBC collaboration, the group were ready to launch 'JUST LISTEN', when Covid-19 hit. Our strategic campaign, featuring visits to businesses, community groups & schools, as well as cinema screenings & presentations, all came to a standstill. We had to quickly adapt and come up with a completely new solution...

I was commissioned to research and devise a model for Maryport Matters - a free, community magazine that seeks to entertain, empower and inform.

With no internal marketing department, the business wanted help creating a sustainable marketing plan that could be delivered by a member of the team with regular consultancy support and mentoring. They also required the provision of regular creative content.

BEC STEAM Trail

BEC are a property development company based at Westlakes Science Park. Keen to develop their educational offering they wanted to develop an interactive trail to give youngsters an understanding of how STEAM subjects are part of their daily lives and how they are represented within the organisations that are located on the park. The STEAM trail also encourages students to explore the integral links between the arts and science. I worked with a design team on concept and content.

WE WILL is a group of young people aged 15 - 18 who have joined together to tackle the way that youth mental health is being dealt with in their families, schools, communities and nationwide. They have carried out extensive research and have taken part in activities to raise awareness of the issues as well as providing recommendations for change. I have supported them on their journey with marketing & communications expertise, helping them to shape an engaging and successful campaign.

HUG A MUG is an innovative new health and well-being signposting cafe based in Maryport. Staffed by volunteers it offers free and friendly advice to people who might need some extra support. I have been working with the team on the project to provide full marketing & communications support in all aspects including advising on brand development, creation of promotional materials, identifying key messages, developing and maintaining stakeholder relations, PR activity and social media etc

Allerdale Borough Council operates in West Cumbria and covers the town hubs of Aspatria, Cockermouth, Keswick, Maryport, Silloth, Wigton and Workington. It was fantastic to be asked to do some research into the arts & cultural provision in the area - a great project and a reminder of the creativity and diversity within the county.
